Counterpoint Music Festival – Atlanta 2012
As an Atlanta resident, I am tired of being just out of reach of the country’s greatest music festivals. Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Electric Forrest…all amazing festivals that many people are unable to attend due to various constraints. I know many of my fellow AtLiens feel the same way. It feels almost like Atlantis, the lost city for modern day music festivals.
However, at long last, our woes and heartache can rest with the announcement of the Counterpoint Music Festival. Formerly the abolished Echo Project, Counterpoint is the new genetically superior offspring of that same festival. Now
partnered with C3 Events (Austin City Limits Festival, Lollapalooza) the team presents Counterpoint Music Fest which will take place Sept. 27-29, 2012 at the same site as the Echo Project. The location is about 30 minutes south of Atlanta on 350 acres of riverfront property, part of a 1,250 acre piece of property near Cambleton.
Some of you have already heard of this, some of you haven’t. Those of you who have know that the line-up is an electronic music fans wet dream come to life. (See below for complete line-up) Skrillex, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights and Bog Boi are just a few names on the list of amazing artists attending the festival.
So…what should you expect besides great music and copious amounts of sedatives at the festival? Camping will obviously be the way most people spend the night at the festival. If you actually sleep during the festival, this is your cheapest and best bet, however travel packages for suites, and shuttle services from Atlanta are also available for those less adventurous attendees. Local artwork, both large scale and small, will be on display all over the property. It will be pay homage to the city’s most creative minds and will serve as a beautifully appropriate backdrop for the festival.
In between sets, people have to eat right? There will be a plethora of Atlanta food trucks, Atlanta restaurants, stalls and breweries there to keep you going and nourish your poorly abused body the whole time. Despite all the great music and things to do, some of us just can’t go without seeing our favorite college football team play on Saturday. If you fall into this category, you have solace! A giant screen dedicated to just football will be displayed on the property to you don’t miss a minute of action.
In addition, extreme sports enthusiasts and showman from all walks of life will be there for your entertainment pleasure. Clothing companies and gear companies will also be in attendance to showcase the newest products and trends in the outdoor world!
Always ATL will be there taking pictures of the entire event! This will be our biggest undertaking thus far and a great opportunity for us to photograph the coalescence of people, music and art, all representing our beloved ATL.
